Synopsis

An Artist of Our Time An Artist of Our Time is a satirical comedy following Givi, a struggling film director in Tbilisi whose grand ambitions far exceed his modest reality. Convinced that Hollywood is his destiny, Givi spends his days trying to make it a reality, including applying for the Green Card lottery during his day shift at the library. His self-proclaimed “office” is a rented attic in a local film school, secured through a friend and shared with his so-called creative collective: a group of endlessly opinionated, painstakingly unproductive “film enthusiasts” who seem to know everything about cinema except how to make a movie. Over the course of a single day, we follow Givi as he waits anxiously for a phone call from a Turkish businessman who may finance his new film—a call that could change his life.
