Synopsis

The Complete Curiosities of the Universe contains all of Calvino's curiosity stories from 1964 onwards. These stories make the obscure concepts of modern science accessible and visible, establishing a kind of literature that is closer to the myth of the origins of Ursa Major. It is not a science fiction story, and the world in the book is not a fantasy world completely isolated from the real world, but a purer, more refined one.

The film CosmicViewer is a series of short films based on Calvino's view of the universe. The story is divided into three parts, in which three different "professions" (observer, assassin and painter) are chosen from among the people who inhabit the cosmos to tell the story of what happens to them on three different planets in the universe. The story is independent of each other, and the images are very different and quirky, with each character being given a unique meaning.

The overall style of the video editing is expressive and creative, using mainly historical image reconstruction, digital algorithmic programming, screen collage and hand-drawn 2D animation to create the strange and bizarre images depicted in the text and to give the final film its effect.
